The AAVWS earned it’s mantle more than just a wine show because of the amazing range of educational and hospitality events that coincide with show week each year and the show’s commitment to research and development including designing and constructing a unique, cutting-edge online entry and judging system which collects detailed viticultural and winemaking data.

In addition to these the AAVWS has implemented two exciting new programs in recent years to extend our contribution to research and development and encouraging diversity in the wine industries of Australia and New Zealand.

The AAVWS Fellowship, launched in 2014, brings a talented and dedicated wine student, professional or enthusiast to Mildura each November to take part in the full suite of events and have a back-stage look at how the show works.

Sponsor a Variety is a new initiative since 2015 which will see the importation of a variety which currently does not exist in Australia. The AAVWS, in association with Agromillora Australia, will facilitate importation of the chosen variety which will eventually be made available to the public through the Australian Vine Improvement Association.

Changing the World

“The massive impact the AAVWS has had on wine production and consumption in Australia over the last 15 years is now flowing overseas as alternative varieties breathe new life into the UK market and add colour and excitement to the Australian offering.”
